Been awfully busy around here...hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. It has actually been warm here, which is just what we have been waiting for. Northern Minnesota is not really known for it's mild Spring weather! LOL I love the Memorial Day 50% off coupon at Michael's! Yeah, I went and bought myself some lovely scrapbooking papers that I've had my eye on. Spent the day yesterday working on some new paper items for my Etsy shop. These are pretty cute, some animal, owl, and dragonfly tags. I hand punched them from black cardstock and handstamped them with the cute designs, added some little flowers and some colorful ribbon. The beauty of using these handmade tags on your gifts is that the gift recipient can keep the tag after the gift has been opened, and use the tags as a bookmark! Then every time they go to read their book, they will be reminded of your lovely gift! I also did up some other tags and little bags to go with them, but I was having a hard time getting the pic to download...will try a little later. Until then, have a great day!
P.S. Daisy is doing great, her stitches look like they are healing up fine and she is back to her old spunky, cheerful self! We bring her in to the vet on Friday to get the stitches removed and then we can finally remove the cone! I have a feeling she is going to go NUTS once that cone is off, I'm gonna have to put up all my breakables for a while I think, LOL.
The kids have....Only one week left of school....pray for me! LOL
Not feeling quite so overwhelmed today...lol...Daisy is doing better, she is cheering up a little and eating and all that. I was really worried about her for a while there. I guess I was worried that we were destroying her spirit, and that would truly be a tragedy as she has such a delightful personality, all spunky and not afraid of anything. Glad she is OK...only 5 more days until the cone comes off. I was able to do a little sewing too, and that ALWAYS makes me feel better. A day without sewing is just a bad, boring day, LOL. I guess I get all that creative energy all piled up inside me and it is just bursting to get out, it can be very painful ya know! Here is the fish I was embroidering and beading, something that popped into my head from being at the lake. Of course, if there were fish like this one in the lake, everyone would be fishing! for bling, bling! lol I just have a little left to do around the mouth and it will be finished. What should I do with it? Hmmmmmm????? I have been thinking of a few things, purse, pillow, whatnot..... How about some ideas from you creative people out there in blog land? I am certainly open to suggestions and can't wait to hear what you have in mind.
I have been trying and trying to get on here and update this blog...but I am getting pelted with things to do...one thing after another! See the pic of my baby, Daisy? She got spayed a week ago Monday. Well, when I got back home from the "girl's weekend", which was wonderful BTW) I looked at Daisy's tummy and she had torn out all of the stitches and had a gaping hole! Ewwwww! So I ended up having to bring her into the vet, they had to put her out again and re-stitch...now she has to wear the cone! She is not happy. When I first got her home, she went nuts, running around, running into things, and just generally freaking out. I finally got her calmed down, and then she got really despressed. She would go sit in the corner, facing the wall, and not move or anything for a long stretch of time. I would call her and she wouldn't even look at me. OK, I could go on and on about all this. We'll just leave it at the fact that I have been just coddling her and trying to keep her from getting too down. She does seem to be coming around now, thank God. Then, of course, because I wasn't here all weekend, the house is a mess, there are no groceries, and a ton of laundry...etc! And..the school year is coming to a close, so there are all kinds of things we have to go to, the last track meet, the awards ceremony for ROTC, the scholastic achievement awards, etc. I am jonesing for some crafting!! I started an embroidery project about 3 weeks ago, and I still haven't finished it (which is really rare for me) and I have to have it done very soon as it is going out for a secret pal swap in about a week! Man! I am a whiner today! LOL I am also trying to get my Etsy shop going and advertise as much as possible, and so I know that I need to keep my blogs up to date. So, now I feel better, even though I haven't talked about crafting at all! LOL At least I did manage to get things off my chest, and that helps, as we all know. I am gonna go and watch Dr. Phil and see if I can make any progress on my project. I hope to be back soon with some new, exciting products to show you.
Here's a pic of the hub and son and nephew heading out fishing from the side dock at out cabin. YEAH!! It's finally here....GIRL's weekend!!!! Back around 10 years ago, when our children were babies and toddlers, my sisters-in-law, friends, and I decided that we needed to get away from the house for a weekend! The guys always got the whole week of opener (fishing) off to go off and go camping...we deserve a little time too! So we informed the guys that we were heading to the cabin for 3 whole days! They would be staying home with the kids. Well, it is now a tradition. We have such fun. We even have a rule that the food has to be prepared before we go so all we have to do is eat it...no cooking unless you can put it on a stick and cook it over the fire. Three days, no kids, men, cooking, bras, phones, or anything else that may be irritating! LOL So I'll be thinking about you as I sit around the campfire, sucking on a cold beer, and getting up to dance under the stars to "Love Shack" baby!! See you Monday!
I've been knitting. I'm not an advanced knitter by any stretch of the imagination, but I can knit in a straight line! And....I can crochet too, but only in a circle! Well, truth be told, I can crochet in a straight line too, but the rows keep getting bigger and bigger...I do much better going in a circle. I recently went yarn shopping. The yarns available now are so fun and interesting. I ended up buying this yarn called "Trellis", which is a little like a ladder with 2 black thin strings that run parallel to each other and there are little colorful "rungs" every so often. The one I got has peacock blue and regular blue rungs, and a sagey green and almost gold rungs. It's so pretty. I knit up a sash/belt/scarf with it and added a long fringe to each end. Really cute!!! I had my daughter model it for the pictures and she just loves it...she is asking me to make another one for her. Her best friend was here for the model shoot too (lol) and now she wants one too! I put it up for sale on Etsy. Pop in a take a look.
Got up nice and early this morning, grabbed a big cup of coffee and headed down to my craft room. Ahhhh! Weekend mornings are so nice, don't have to get the kids up for school, so they sleep in and I can actually have that peaceful time to myself in the morning. The hub took off yesterday to go to the cabin for the opening of the fishing season, so it is extra quiet around here. I had a couple of gifts to wrap this morning. I have gotten to the point where I really hate to buy cards from the store! I just can't bring myself to pay $5 for a machine-made card! Anywhooo....I decided to make a couple of gift tags to go on the gifts I was wrapping and they turned out so cute that I made up a set of them to sell on Etsy! Pop in a take a look! Bye for now.
Isn't this a charming little bird? I found this embroidery pattern in a packet of patterns at an estate sale...Score! I embroidered it in an off white floss on a lovely vintage hanky...green with a variegated greens crochet trim. I then stitched the hanky onto a lovely striped fabric and made it into a pillow. I added a nice cotton moss fringe all around the edge. There is a button closure on the back of the pillow so the pillow insert can be removed before washing. It was challenging to embroider due to the delicate fabric of the hanky, I had to be very careful with my stitch tension, hooping and unhooping it, and I even had to use a very fine needle....but the end product was worth all the work, I think. I just finished putting this pillow up for sale in my Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/view_item.php?listing_id=200544 Feel free to pop in there and have a look at this and all my other products! If fact, look around at all the great things there, you will be glad you did! I can't get enough of that place, there are so many talented people who have shops there...and the whole site is set up so neat , it is fun to just go hop around there. I hope you take my advice and stop in for a visit! Bye for now....
Hello again! I was getting very frustrated trying to get a post published on here, every time I would try and upload an image, it would take an hour and then wouldn't work! Grrrrr! But I don't give up easily! So, gonna give 'er another try. I have been busy, have got quite a few new items up in my Etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=36307. The newest are the Bev bags, there are two different styles; the retro '70's "Going around in Circles" and then the "Girly Girl" which is flowery and feminine. These are across the shoulder bags used to carry your beverage bottles, one more way to make life just a bit easier! I also added a few items from my "Fridge Jewelry" line; the Mom, the Friendship, and the Butterfly. These make really nice little "just because" gifts. Please stop by my Etsy.com Web Shop and nose around. If you haven't been to Etsy yet, I heartily encourage you to do so, it is so great!! It is, by far, the best place to go and see what handcrafters are up to these days, and to purchase very unique and original items. Go, you WILL be glad you did. Be careful though, it is totally addictive!
