One More Weekend.....

Rosie is really sad that we took out the Christmas tree yesterday!!

How's everyone?? I miss you guys, and really need to get back on schedule with the blogging (shame on me!) One more weekend and the Holidays are done! lol Seriously, coming from these huge families does present challenges, let me tell you.

Isn't it funny how people from big families seem to be drawn to others with big families when they marry? My Dad is the oldest son of 17 kids and we had 6 kids in our family. My hubby is the youngest of 10. My brother married a gal who is the youngest of 13 kids. My other brother married a gal who is the youngest of 7. It just goes on and on!! We had a nice, mellow Christmas at home here, Misty did come by for Christmas, which was nice!. The last weekend we had Christmas with the 2 brothers who live here in town and their families. Now today my other brother from out-of-town and his wife are coming ! They are renting a jacuzzi room at a local hotel, so we will go there and eat and play and have a good time..... and no one has to clean their house, yeah!!

How sweet are these two babies??? They sleep together a lot of the time, but sometimes they just look so sweet that I have to photograph them!

I haven't been crafting too much--I was having some back problems (which really sucked!) and I couldn't stand or even sit in a chair for very long. Thankfully that seems to be working itself out! I finished up some custom orders and have been working on that big order for the yarn shop in little spits and spurts. I have some new 2008 planners in the shop

This one is called Mossy! I love the colors in this--so rich and earthy.

And a pretty aqua floral.

Well, I better get going, I have an order to pack up and get to the post office this morning (yeah, only 20 sales away from 500 now-- whoot!) and then I need to figure what the heck I'm bringing to the hotel for food today, get to the grocery store, and then get home and make it! I'm feeling very uninspired! lol

Hey---what are your favorites to bring to parties?? It would be great to get some new things to make. Please share your tried and true party recipes!!

Magic Cookie Bars:

Melt one stick butter in 9X13 pan in 350 degree oven

Stir in 1 3/4 cup graham cracker crumbs

Press into bottom of pan

Top with coconut (I just eyeball it), 1/2 bag choc. chips, 1/2 bag butterscotch chips

Pour one can Sweetened Condensed Milk over entire thing

Bake 20-25 minutes in 350 degree oven, until just brown on top.

They are unbelievably good, and beyond easy. I have never taken any of these babies home from a party.

Hope your back is better!

Good grief Mrs. Kwitty. You're still having Christmas! I think this year was the quietest Christmas ever for me, but likely the last of its kind.
Good luck getting back into the swing, I'm still working at it myself. And I wish you luck with your back too. I've had herniated disks for about 17 years now, so I totally get back problems. Take care of yourself!

Welcome back, I missed you. I'm glad your holiday adventures were fun. What a shame about your back; I hope that resolves soon.

Hi Karen! Yay! Now I'm not going to forget to add you to my blogroll!
Favorite snack to bring to parties:

Buy:
Deli sliced Ham (black forest or smoked)
Pillsbury Flaky Biscuits
Stone Ground Mustard
Honey
Mayo

Okay, put a smear of stone ground mustard on the biscuits before you bake them. Also, cut each biscuit in half. Bake them as directed.
As they are baking, mix together:
half a cup of mayo
2 table spoons of stone ground mustard
2 table spoons of honey
keep tasting to get this dipping sauce to the flavor you like most: sweeter or more mustard-ish

When the biscuits come out, open each biscuit and stuff ham slices inside.
Serve on a round platter with the dipping sauce in the middle.

It's a hit every where I bring this dish!
