In case anyone is interested....I am doing very well with my walking. I've been sticking with it and have lost 10 pounds already, and am feeling a lot stronger--which makes me happy.
I like to drive to someplace in town, park my car, and walk--so it keeps it interesting and I have new things to see. Early in the morning, before it gets hot out, is the best time to go....and it has the added advantage of being able to watch all the little birdies as they go about their chores early in the morning! I got an email this morning with some interesting walking and exercise tidbits...thought I'd share.
My grandpa started walking five miles a day when he was 60... Now he's 97 years old and we don't know where the hell he is.
I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.
The main reason I took up walking is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.
I have to walk early in the morning, before my brain figures out what I'm doing...
I joined a health club last year, spent about 400 bucks; haven't lost a pound. Apparently you have to go there. Every time I hear the dirty word 'exercise', I wash my mouth out with chocolate.
I do have flabby thighs, but fortunately my stomach covers them. (LOL--my personal favorite!!) If you are going to try cross-country skiing, start with a small country.
I know I got a lot of exercise the last few years, just by getting over the hill.
We all get heavier as we get older, because there's a lot more information in our heads. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
All the cutey birds in this post are available in my Etsy shop--Mrs. Kwitty's Cottage--just click the pic and it will take you there!!
Have a wonderful 4th my friends--God Bless America!!

Happy 4th to you too Karen! I wish your post could inspire me to get up out of this chair and go for a walk. Maybe tonight. Wish me luck!
hee hee...Thanks so much for the laugh and congratulations to you!
I love going to the prettiest neighbourhoods to walk too, so I understand what you mean. Fortunately, we just moved into one of the prettiest neighbourhoods in our area, so now I just have to go out my front door.
GO GO GO...Keep going for more!

Good for you! I love the new tags too.
Happy 4th,

Josh and I live at the bottom of a really steep hill...it's quite a workout climbing it. Walking is GREAT exercise.
Congratulations on losing 10 lbs!!!! YAY!!! Losing weight isn't easy and you should be very proud! That is fantastic!!!
: ) Hope you, and your whole family have a wonderful 4th and a fun weekend.
ROTFL! I like the one about having to actually go to the gym.
Oh, and I LOVE your bird tags. SO cute. I think the red dotted one is my fave.
Hope you're having a spectacular 4th. We've got thunder right now and if it brings rain, we'll really have something to celebrate!
Hugs & blessings

Well done with the walking. I am too addicted to blogging to think about exercise right now. Lvoe your birds, so sweet.
I needed a laugh this morning - Love the one about washing your mouth out with chocolate!! I joined weightwatchers on line about a month ago and lost 5 pounds, then my family fell apart, but now I am back on the wagon. I just need to use that new eliptical trainer that I have. Have had it for over a year and it still smells new when I use it. hehe - I used to scatter fabrics on the floor and get inspired for some pillows while I was on it - I can do this, I can do this, I can do this - thanks for the inspiration!!! Cindy
PS - I just have to be careful and not walk too fast when I am on it. All the friction from my thighs rubbing together could start a fire :-)!! hehe
Oh Karen! Those were funny... loved the grandpa one!
Thanks for stopping by and adding your name to the drawing!
